LUX - Verão 2008

IMG_1950 Este verão (Junho-Agosto) vou passar bastante tempo na Universidade Case Western, em Cleveland, onde estamos montando o experimento LUX. O LUX é uma versão maior do XENON10, o nosso detector de matéria escura anterior. Estamos testando vários dos componentes antes de o levarmos para o subsolo no laboratório subterrâneo nacional (DUSEL) em South Dakota. Ao lado está uma foto minha com o detector.

DMTools

A couple of weeks ago we, the Brown ParticleAstrophysics group, created a website to serve as the website for the Dark Matter Community.

The site named after the software called DMTools, used by almost all DM groups to make the limit plots you will see in DM papers.  The plots that show how sensitive the the detector is to dark matter, or in other words, the parameter space ruled out by the experiments, showing what energy and cross-section the dark matter particles don't have (otherwise we would have seen them).  The software was developed by my advisor and his CDMS collaborators, and it's hosted in our servers at Brown.

The design is by Carlos, and it's pretty cool. The site has a DM wiki and a DM forum, mostly to talk about the experiments and their results.  Check it out at:
